PB 2024: Idea Phase Complete!

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the residents who participated in our recent Participatory Budgeting (PB) initiative. Your engagement and support have been truly inspiring.

We collected an impressive 44 resident-generated ideas for capital projects. This outstanding response demonstrates the creativity and care our neighbourhood residents have for their community.

From July 1 to September 30, 2024 ideas will undergo a review by City staff who will assess the feasibility and cost of implementing these projects.

Once the ideas are reviewed and costed, they will go to a vote this October. Using our Toronto Centre Projects platform, residents in Zone 2 (Cabbagetown, St. James Town, Winchester Park) and Zone 3 (Cabbagetown South, Downtown Yonge, Garden District, McGill-Granby, Moss Park) will vote on which projects they would like to see funded. If you live in one of those neighbourhoods, you will be able to vote on as many ideas as you'd like as long as their combined costs fit within the total $750,000 budget.

Identify ‘N Impact Youth Grants - Apply by September 15!

The City of Toronto’s Identify ‘N Impact community grant helps promote youth engagement and community safety by providing up to $17K for youth-led (15-29) initiatives that help with violence prevention, mental health and well-being, skills development, arts and youth-friendly spaces. Applications are now open until September 15 at 12:00pm.

Biidaasige Park is Bigger, Better and more Beautiful!

Opened last year, Biidaasige Park is expanding with 10 more acres of public waterfront space at 238 Cherry Street on Ookwemin Minising. With new places to walk, cycle, paddle, gather, enjoy public art and take in skyline views, residents and visitors are invited to come celebrate during opening weekend on July 25 and 26. See what’s happening this weekend and beyond, including free guided kayak tours, walking tours and art-making workshops.
