Water Meter Transmission Unit Replacement

The City is replacing all 470,000 Water Meter Transmission Units (MTUs) across Toronto, which will take about three years to complete. The City’s contractor Neptune Technology Group (Canada) will contact residents and businesses by mail with instructions on how to book your MTU replacement appointment. It’s important to book your appointment as soon as you are contacted.

When will MTU replacements begin in my area?

You will first receive a communication from the City notifying you that work will begin in your zone within the next few months. This will be followed by detailed communications from the City’s contractor, Neptune Technology Group, about how to book an appointment to have your MTU replaced. Program information, including zone and schedule details, is also available at toronto.ca/MTUreplacement.

What happens after my MTU is replaced?

Your utility account will be updated based on the water meter reading transmitted by the replacement MTU. The City will issue a stand-alone bill that reflects actual water use. If you are unable to see your water consumption data through the MyWaterToronto online portal after receiving your bill, please call 416-338-1616.
